Welcome to the ReBrand Initiative!

We’re a nonprofit organization here to revolutionize Standardbred aftercare.
ReBrand’s mission is to promote the use of Standardbreds in non-racing careers, whether at the conclusion of a racing career (off track), or in lieu of racing. This is accomplished by:

❤️ Education:
Providing easily accessible resources with information on retraining techniques for the off track standardbred. These can be online materials, reading materials, in person or online clinics, etc.

❤️ Incentives:
Provide rewards to encourage owners and trainers to compete, try new activities, or otherwise pursue further training and education with their standardbreds to increase the breed’s participation in non-racing activities which will serve to promote and foster interest in them as non-racing animals as well.

❤️ Competitive Opportunities:
Provide virtual and in person competitive opportunities for standardbreds at broadly accessible levels to increase non-racing attention brought to the breed as well as drive up the value of an off track or non-racing standardbred.
Working in tandem, these initiatives will ensure a need for standardbreds independent of racing, which will increase over all security of the breed by providing increased non-racing opportunities for horses, which will encourage racing connections to retire and/or sell noncompetitive or sore horses earlier, decreasing on track injuries and breakdowns, and help horses avoid the “Amish Pipeline” which usually ends with horses dumped at low end auctions, with some shipping to slaughter.

Some of our future goals to support aftercare include:

  • An emergency resource fund that drivers, trainers, owners can donate a portion of their race earnings to. This resource fund can be accessed through an application process to ensure the safety of standardbreds in their off-track life. This can include grants to established 501c3 Standardbred adoption programs, emergency horse care funds for private owners of retired standardbred experiencing hardships, and financial assistance to ensure the placement of a standardbred in need into an approved 501c3 standardbred adoption program.

  • A large scale yearly “Makeover” competition and educational seminar for retraining off-track Standardbreds.

  • Scholarships for standardbred owners to pursue further training, education, and competitive opportunities with their standardbred in non-racing careers.
